Structural and functional
connectome reconstruction

CATO is a modular software package for the reconstruction of brain connectivity based on DWI or rs-fMRI data.

Connectome reconstruction toolbox

CATO is an integrative and modular software package for the reconstruction of structural and functional brain connectivity based on diffusion weighted imaging and resting-state functional MRI data. CATO enables researchers to run end-to-end reconstructions from MRI data to structural and functional connectome maps, customize their analysis and utilize different software packages during the data preprocessing.

CATO is introduced in:
Structural and functional connectivity reconstruction with CATO - A Connectivity Analysis TOolbox
Siemon C. de Lange, Koen Helwegen, and Martijn P. van den Heuvel - NeuroImage, 2023

CATO is a reconstruction toolbox useful for researchers at all technical levels including both easy to use default parameters and example scripts as well as advanced options to customize the reconstruction steps.

End-to-end reconstruction pipelines

Modular

The modular design of CATO enables researchers to run end-to-end reconstructions from raw MRI data to connectomes, customize their analysis and/or utilize other software packages such as FreeSurfer and FSL during the data processing.

MATLAB and executable

CATO is available both as a package for MATLAB and as a compiled standalone executable for use on e.g. high-performance cluster computers.

Free open-source software

CATO is open-source and free-to-use under the MIT License. Source code and developments are available on the GitHub repository.
